Carries out payment of annual fees and search works on intellectual property objects.

The assets companies possess in the form of technologies (patents), designs and brands, is what increasingly determines their value. By establishing patents, trademarks, designs, trade secrets and copyrights, companies transform their ideas into intellectual property.

Successful companies deploy IP rights to gain a competitive advantage and as a source of unexpected revenue.

Trademark protection is based on the premise that the protection of distinctive marks to distinguish traders’ goods and services from other traders’ good and services shelter the public from deception and confusion. IP law is ultimately based on the notion that in its absence, creativity, innovation and product differentiation will be insufficient. The value of a trademark is intertwined with the quality of goods it designates.

Why does the law protect works of authorship?

In the first

instance, as copyright works are fruits of the mind, authors should have the right to control their works

Secondly

the economic premise is that authors must be compensated for the exploitation of their works as a return on the labour and skill they expanded in creating their works

Thirdly

the law aims to provide incentives to the authors to create

And, fourthly

the widest possible dissemination of copyright works benefits the public

Intellectual property has indeed become the driving force of economic health and social well-being
